BARREL ONE 02
After designing a training facility for Barrel One in 2022, this was the first public venue undertaken for the coffee roaster. This was Barrel One's fourth venue, but their first venture outside of the Northern Beaches, into the historic city suburb of Potts Point. The Cafe's fitout was designed with special consideration of its context. Potts Point houses a high concentration of Art Deco architecture and traditionally has a reputation as Sydney’s Red Light District, being gentrified in recent years. The fitout pays homage to this rich history, draping the store in heritage red hues and featuring dark walnut timber tones, whilst keeping true to the Barrel One Brand. We worked hard to house all the functions of the café in a very tight space, less than half the size of previous venues. Because of this small space, Finishes were creatively used to demarcate between staff areas and public areas, creating clearly defined zones without obtrusive physical boundaries.
